The rocks, two gulls, a buoy marker, and the slow churn of fog above the surface. Then the boat appeared — an older-style fishing vessel emerging from the white on the left side of the frame, moving at the unhurried pace of something that had made this crossing before. For a brief window, every element occupied exactly the right position. The mast cleared the fog. The bridge held its partial reveal.
