An Hour Still. Two Subjects. One Frame.
I sat in one spot for over an hour on this one.
The shot I wanted required two things to happen simultaneously: a pelican passing through the frame and water close enough to the starfish to make it feel immersed — not just sitting on dry rock. The tide was coming in at Newport that morning, which meant the window was moving in one direction and there was no guarantee the bird would cooperate with any of it.
The pelican didn't wait for me. The water didn't either. But patience eventually puts everything in the same place at the same time, and that's what this is — a summer morning at Newport, early enough that the light was still low, late enough that the tide was doing its part.
Every print is made to order on archival-grade media — the same materials used in fine art and museum printing. Printed, inspected, and shipped by Jeremy Burke personally.
